Prayer for Protection – Ven. Martin Von Cochem

Blessed St. Joseph, patron of all working people, thank you for the opportunity to build up God’s kingdom through my labors. Help me to be conscientious in my work so that I may give as full a measure as I have received.

May I do all things in a spirit of thankfulness and joy, ever mindful of the gifts I have received from God that enable me to perform these tasks. Permit me to work in peace, patience, and moderation, keeping in mind the account I must one day give of time lost, talents unused, good omitted, and vanity of success, so fatal to the work of God. Glorious St. Joseph, may my labors be all for Jesus, all through Mary, and all after your holy example in life and in death.

Jacinta, the youngest of the three seers of the Fatima Apparitions, said to Lucia: “Tell the whole world that God wants to spread His graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary…The Heart of Jesus wants us to venerate also with Him the Immaculate Heart of Mary…God has placed peace in her hands, and it is from the Immaculate Heart that men must seek it.”

The Virgin Mary also added: “The grace of God will give you the strength you need…if what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.”

Kindle in me the fire of Your love and the flame of eternal charity. Come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts of your faithful, enkindle in us the fire of Your love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created, andYou shall renew the face of the earth.

“Go and fear nothing. I will help you.”

There is hope. Miracles DO happen.

Remember, O most pure spouse of the Virgin Mary, my beloved Patron, that never it has been heard that anyone invoked your patronage and sought your aid without being comforted. Inspired by this confidence I come to you and fervently commend myself to you. Despise not my petition, O dearest foster father of our Redeemer, but accept it graciously.

St. Joseph, spouse of Mary, how many graces are obtained through your intercession! We choose you as our father, guardian, and patron of our family and each of us individually.

Grant that we may be imitators of you in daily work and in our daily prayers.

Direct our endeavors, be they at home, in school or in the place of our employment. Be our helper, friend, and father.

May our family resemble the home in Nazareth where the holy family lived under your authority.

May our home remain forever under your care and protection.

Let all who presently live in this home and those who might live here in the future, be reminded daily that no one under your care was ever disappointed.

May it never be possible that anyone should forget about you or not revere you with the love of a child.

By Pope Leo XIII

To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be kind to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God’s Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that, supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven.

This prayer is over 1900 years old. Pray this prayer for nine consecutive mornings, for anything you may desire, according to God’s Will.

It has never been known to fail.

O Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.

O Saint Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord: so that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most Loving of Fathers.

O Saint Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while he reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath.

St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us.

This prayer was found in the fiftieth year of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In the 1500’s it was sent by the Pope to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle.Who- ever reads this prayer, hears it, or carries it, will never die a sudden death, nor be drowned, nor will poison take effect on them. They will not fall into the hands of the enemy nor be burned in any fire, nor will they be defeated in battle.
